We had tickets into the Champions Club for the day where we were served Breakfast, Lunch and late afternoon snacks, Wine and beer were also available to us all included... more about this is a minute
Here is a sample of what we had, Haggis sausages, nicely cooked crisp vegetables and bubble and squeak, a traditional British meal..
The day turned out to be fantastic, we saw many of our favourite golfers and walked the entire old course of St Andrews. The buildings around the first and 18th holes are stunning,
We have many great pictures of players and the course to share when we return home. We had a wonderful day and stayed at the course until 8:30 pm. The players were still playing but we had to catch our bus back to the trains before the last bus left, Arrived back at Airdrie at 11:00 pm, A long day but one we will never forget.
Oh and I mentioned about complimentary beer and wine, For those who know Barb she doesn't drink either. Canadian whiskey is her preference with coke, but the pop over here is so sweet that it isn't really working for her either. So a change was needed,
Wine was not served by the glass, only by the bottle and remember it was included with our attendance to the Champions Club, so we killed two of them. Barb had more than I did as I really like the beer here in Britain, so I had two pints of beer and helped a little with the wine but only a little.
I would imagine that driving the standard would have been easy to relearn but the wheel and the clutch and driving on the other side would be hard. I watched the Open on Friday and saw Nick Faldo and Tom Watson pose on the bridge. Were you able to see that, that would have been so great. We will need to go golfing there one day!!
